Seed Sowing & Growing Notes
Direct sow into the garden in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked, or in autumn in mild winter areas for an earlier bloom. Poppies do not transplant well, so sow directly where they are to grow. Keep soil evenly moist until germination, which can take 10–14 days.
Harvesting/Vase Life
Harvest when the first cracks of color appear on the buds, just before they unfurl. Sear the cut ends with a flame or boiling water to extend vase life. Expect 3 to 5 days in the vase. For dried use, allow seed pods to mature on the plant before cutting.
